Irving Penn pt. 4 -- Still life & etc

I love love love Irving Penn's still lifes. He worked closely with Vogue and a lot of these photos accompanied articles in the magazine. On the left is "Cholesterol's Revenge" and on the right was a photo that went with an article about osteoporosis prevention foods. Irving Penn brought his studio all over the world and photographed veiled Moroccan women and the Mudmen of New Guinea, among others. I love the way they are set against the studio background and taken out of context. These pictures revere and dignify the subjects and I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!
